Implementation

Implimentation

In our role as stewards of the London Estate, Grosvenor is working in partnership with Westminster City Council to bring forward, design and deliver improvements to the quality of the public realm across Mayfair and Belgravia.

Initiatives to improve the quality of the public realm can often be the most challenging to implement and deliver.  Grosvenor is committed to maintaining and improving the quality of the estates.  Westminster City Council is very supportive of the principles and ideals presented in Grosvenor’s Public Realm Strategy “Places for People”.  Grosvenor and Westminster City Council have therefore joined forces and are now working together, under a innovative joint funding arrangement, to deliver a series of public realm improvement projects across Mayfair and Belgravia.

Under the joint funding agreement, signed in November 2007, Grosvenor has responsibility for proposing, designing and constructing the public realm improvement projects.  Grosvenor is also responsible for funding the greater part of the costs of the project.  Westminster will be responsible for maintenance of the projects once they are completed.  No project can proceed unless Westminster supports it.  In developing and implementing the projects, close engagement and consultation with stakeholders (businesses, residents and key bodies) will take place.
